Recovery Coaching
WHAT IS A RECOVERY COACH?
There’s a lot of confusion about what a Recovery Coach is. Recovery Coaches don’t come stay with you nor do they take you to treatment. They aren’t therapists or sponsors. Recovery Coaches are highly trained partners who are willing to work with you to develop a mindful relationship to the 8 Domains of Recovery. They help you create Plans of Action (POAs) when confronted with difficulties in your everyday life. They hold you accountable in a compassionate yet firm manner. Your therapist teaches you to cope with emotional discomfort. Your recovery coach teaches you how to solve problems in a constructive way, facilitating a decreased likelihood of relapse.
Stay headed in the right direction in between your individual therapy sessions by receiving support and reviewing tools to keep you in recovery. A Mindful Centers will assist you with an individualized sex addiction recovery plan. Your Recovery Coach will also present specific accountability tools for you to use in your everyday life to ensure relapse prevention at the sex addiction counseling center.
WHY DO I NEED A COACH WHEN I HAVE A THERAPIST?
Therapists work with clients to help them identify the emotional drivers of their addiction. Coaches work with their clients on the 8 Domains of Recovery.” Working with a coach leads to emotional discomfort. Your therapist teaches you how to deal with this emotional discomfort in a constructive way. Your coach still holds you accountable for behaviors regardless of the emotional response.
